Carmel Wedding

The second time around
they went to the Wedding Rock
at Carmel State Park.
Bright sun, no wind, calm sea.
Two children--his and hers
ages 6 and 8.
Seven friends, a Unitarian minister,
fewer dreams and illusions,
more hope, more knowledge,
more love, more tolerance.
Reception followed
on the beach.
Food from friends
beer from the Highland store.
Digital cameras, bigger smiles.
which goes to show
you never can tell.
